Is a beer historian a real thing?
Sure it is. I mean, don't look for any university accreditation in the near future, but I've been studying, writing, consulting, and speaking about B.C.'s craft brewing history for over five years. I've been quoted in the Nanaimo Bulletin, appeared on The Show on Shaw TV, did a PechKucha and hosted an event for Nanaimo Craft Beer week 2018 and 2020.
As president of the Nanaimo Craft Beer society and advocate for craft history, I'm available to provide research and speak about the history of craft beer in communities throughout B.C. If you're interested in learning more, please contact me.
Most recently, inspired by an article from VIU Professor of anthropology Dr. Imogene Lim (also the Chow Mein Sandwich Chick), I wrote about the Hoo Mee sandwich, regionalized in southern Massachusetts in a piece called Chasing Chow Mein: How I Hunted the Hoo-Mee Sandwich.
I'm currently working on another sandwich-related project, which I hope to announce later this year.
